Volvo 123GT Air Cond Compressor and Alternator Belts

During start up of the Volvo 123GT in the morning, the engine shakes a lot. This caused the alternator of the car hitting the steering box, which in long term might lead to damaging the steering box.

So, I ordered a shorter alternator belt and ask my mechanic to install it for me. I ordered one that is 1cm shorter than the current one installed in the car, but later I found a new belt that is 5mm shorter instead.

During the installation, my mechanic found that the air cond compressor belt is in poor condition as well. Luckily he has an exact same one in the workshop, so we changed it on the spot. It is quite troublesome to change, requires two men work. We have to remove the air cond compressor belt first before we can take the alternator belt out. So it is best to do both at the same time.

With the new belts, the clearance between the alternator and the steering box is much safer. Another small project done.
