The fuel cover lip of my Volvo P1800 has been a bit too “down” as per the body curvature since Day 1 I got the car a year + ago. Kinda eye soaring every time I refuel or wash the car.
Yesterday, while in mood, I decided to revisit the part and see what I can do with it.
A quit correction in the morning ends up with a better alignment result.
I then checked Skandix website for the blow up view of the parts assembly of the fuel cover lip, and found something different in my lock assembly.
There are two gaskets on the lock to sealed water or dirt from entering through the lock hole, which I can DIY myself, as I have the cork paper that I bought last time for my carburetor gasket self making.
But, one think I notice that is WRONG on my lock. Mine seems to be too tall, and the metal extender suppose to be beneath the fuel cap, not above it. The previous owner has been installing the lock wrongly all the time, and without gaskets.
I cut two gaskets for the lock and reassembled the lock when I reached home yesterday at around 6pm. Done the removal and installation and some adjustments in around 15 mins. Happy with the final results.
