Long due, as I found the engine oil to be really dirty recently. In term of mileage, not much driven, but I guess due to old engine, still need to change the engine oil often to keep it smooth and clean.
Since the engine was quite dirty, so I decide to use Liqui Moly engine flush on it again. Again? Because the first time was done a year ago (30th June 2022). By the way, I did engine oil change after the engine flush in June 2022.
I have all the things prepared, bought all myself and I went to my nearby mechanic for the service. From left to right are: Castrol GTX Ultraclean 15W-40, Volvo original oil filter, magnetic oil drain plug, and Liqui Moly Engine Flush Plus.
Ling KC Repair Services in Taman Pulai Flora, Skudai, Johor. This price is very reasonable, or cheaper than most other shops most of the time.
I poured Liqui Moly engine flush into my already warmed up engine, and I recorded the time of the engine running. It is recommended to run the engine for 5-10 mins to let the Liqui Moly does the work of cleaning or flushing the engine entirely. I let it run for 10 mins full.
After flush, then we went for the engine oil change process. The old engine oil was really dark and dirty.
I bought a new Magnetic Oil Drain Plug in March, and finally put it to use. Left is the new plug, right is the old plug. The new plug seems a bit longer.
It took a bit of effort for the mechanic to remove the old oil filter, then replaced with the ORIGINAL Volvo oil filter than I bought from ebay. It is a new old stock. The blue belt attached to the oil filter is a magnetic strip that said to be able to trap metal scraps from the engine. Can’t verify that, but my next engine oil change shall reveal if there are any metal scraps on the magnetic oil plug or not.
Besides engine oil change, the mechanic also help to tighten the air-cond condenser unit and alternator fan belts. The air cond belt was giving me squeaking sound when I ON the air cond, and I can see the belt being too loose.
Total cost only RM40 for the work. RM20 for oil change and RM20 for belt tightening.
Still have some small things to sort out. Petrol tank screws hole / drill not yet done. One small part at a time, the fun of owning Classic Car.
