Car Battery Terminals for Volvo P1800

I ordered and received a set of Car Battery Terminals for my coming Volvo P1800.

Paid RM23.76 + RM3 shipping fee for it.

Received the item yesterday, and to my surprise, it is actually quite BIG and HEAVY. Solid and heavy, looks like a good quality product at such a bargain price.

Material as per the seller is “zinc alloy plated appearance”, which means the appearance is zinc alloy plated, but the inside content might be just raw steel.

Anyhow, I am quite please with this product quality, as the coming P1800 has really bad battery terminal. Initially I just want to get a rubber cover for the battery terminal, as it is quite dangerous leaving both side exposed. Any short circuit (touching to the hood) will cause sparks and fire (with the oil leak inside the engine compartment). Furthermore, the battery is not secured to the compartment with a battery holder lock, so it can move away easily.

While searching for the terminal cover, I saw many sellers sell terminal cover + terminal +ve -ve as a set. So I might as well just get a set to replace the current only. Thought of getting the same L shape design battery terminal, but then it looks awkward. Since the negative terminal has two wires, so I might as well get a multi-insert terminal for it.

Another thing that I noticed that might have been wrong in this BQ10 is the direction of the battery. The battery holder is pushing from the outer into the compartment, if the terminals are at the outer size, it might short circuit touching the battery holder bar.

This photo is taken from the internet, which should be the correct direction of how the battery terminals and battery holder are installed.

This is another photo from the internet which I find very dangerous and high risk of short circuiting the terminals.

Will check if the BQ10 wiring is long enough for such rotation or not, main wires should be OK, but the extra one that is connecting to the audio system might not be long enough.

Can’t wait to get the car and starts the fun!
