Trek Madone SLR 7 Disc eTap stock model Available NOW!

Have a chat with a Trek salesman last night. Checking about the price of the Project One Trek Madone SLR 7 Disc eTap, and he said is standard 5% discount for Project One model, and 10% discount for stock model.

Wow…10% for stock model! That’s nice! But then I told him that Trek Madone SLR 7 Disc eTap is only available in Project One (the last I checked at Trek website was last week), but he said he has just sold one stock model last week in Kuala Lumpur! Oh! What did I missed?

It seems like Trek is slow in updating their website with the new model. I am sure that the Trek Madone SLR 7 Disc eTap was not available as standard stock model last week when I played around with Project One. However, after chatting with the salesman, I visited Trek website immediately and yes Trek Madone SLR 7 Disc eTap is there as stock model now!

The more interesting part is actually the PRICE! Usually Project One price is same as stock model, unless you add / remove something in the Project One. How come this Madone SLR 7 Disc eTap is cheaper in stock model (US$7,999.99) but in Project One the starting price is $8,499.99? I checked all other models (SLR 8, SLR 9, SLR 7 Disc…etc.), all having the same starting price in Project One as per the stock model.

So, there must be a mistake in Project One pricing for the Madone SLR 7 Disc eTap. Will we sell Trek updating their website to reduce the starting price of Madone SLR 7 Disc eTap in Project One?

Now it comes to the price in Ringgit Malaysia. The Trek salesman quoted me RM33,000 for the Madone SLR 7 Disc eTap before discount. After 10% discount it becomes RM29,700.00. Wow…great price for my dream bike!

Now it comes to the stock bike colour of Madone SLR 7 Disc eTap. It is Black/Silver-Grey Fade. Kinda boring or ordinary to me. Definitely no WOW factor to me when I first saw it. I would still prefer to get the Project One option, but I am now hoping that Trek will update their website to reflect the US$500 price difference.

Just got an update from Trek salesman that Stock Bikes are made and assembled in Taiwan, but Project One is made in Taiwan but assembled in USA. Paint job for Project One is done in USA. Project One colour is a bit premium, hence the price is US$500 higher. I compared again the Madone SLR 6 Disc, and yes only the grey / silver paint colour is cheaper, and all the other colours are US$500 extra.

So, Trek is correct, I was wrong.
