Our story…

ShaShinKi is an ancient Japanese pronunciation of camera. Founded by Dr Koh in Dec 2005, when he was doing his PhD in Japan in Marine Engineering at Hiroshima University. The name ShaShinKi was the idea of Lydia, General Manager of ShaShinKi, wife to Dr Koh.

ShaShinKi first operated its business in a small space in Japan, where office, bed, kitchen are all in one place. We started it as a hobby…sourcing products from Japan and sell to photographers in Malaysia. With the assistance of our sister in law, we have our Malaysia operation office in Kampung Jering, Perak communicating with our Japan home from Year 2005-2008. (We have our Beauty & the Beast in Year 2008)

In Oct 2008, we moved from Japan back to Malaysia after Dr Koh completed his PhD study in Japan. We then moved to Skudai, Johor. We run our business from home, then rented a house due to the expansion of SKU.

After 12 years of selling purely online, we decided to open our first physical retail shop for our beloved customers. We have received numerous request and enquiries from our customers over the years to visit us, but due to the limited space of our previous online operation office, it is hard for us to serve our walk-in customers well. The decision was made 3 years ago, when we decided to purchase a 3 storeys shop lot as our new office. After the long wait…we are glad that the moment has finally come!

We are glad that we now have a more comfortable space for our customers. The retail shop born because of YOU, and is meant for YOU! So, do comes visit us if you happened to be in Johor. Says Hi! 🙂
