Coating and polishing my Peugeot RCZ

Visits: 68

My Peugeot RCZ is coming to 5 years old next month, paint was scratchy…and my previous maid scratched it really bad when washing the car. I have wanted to send the car for polishing and coating since last year, but couldn’t find the right time to visit the shop.

The shop is Honjyo, car coating specialist in Johor. I sent my Toyota Alphard there 4 years ago, and the paint is still really nice even after so many years. Car is easy to clean and maintain.

I contacted John the owner and booked my date, sent the car in on Saturday morning, and got it back on the next day.

To my horror, the workmanship is horrible. There are still many scratches marks on my car, and the worst part is that they broke the paint of my car on the spoiler!

The size is around 3 x 2cm, very obvious and bad! They use a white paint to cover the broken paint, and it is a terrible job done! John suggested that I use a sticker to patch over it!

Not happy, or very disappointed should I say. If it was 4 years ago with my brand new car, I would be really mad!

John gave some discount and I paid RM800 for the work. Original price is RM1200 with 10% CNY discount, so is RM1080.

Few hours later, John whatsapp me offering to repaint the damaged part and use 3M product to Polish my car to the finest. I told him I will consider.

I checked my car again at night and I can see a lot of scratch mark on the paint.

I messaged John and told him I will take his offer and send the car to him to get it done.

I sent in the car to him on Monday, and told him to take his time to make sure my car is great this time. I will pay him full for the work.

It took 3 days for the workshop to paint my spoiler. Then another day for John to polish my car and recoat.

Car is in better condition now, and the paint job is fine. There are still some poor workmanship here and there, but I will just accept it.

The final distracting part is the car front glass shield coating. Poor quality and my front window shield is not clear. I can see something like oily coating on it. Edges where my wipers end got scratch lines. John said my glass is already in scratched condition originally, but I couldn’t recall. I hope the coating will fade off after few months, so I don’t want to argue over it.

Will I still send in my car to Honjyo? Did I regret? Nah, overall condition of the car is still better than before, and most importantly the paint is protected with coating now, which should last for the many years to come.

My baby car…my first and only sports car…will keep it for life…
