Budget 2014. Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be imposed by April 2015, 6%.

GST-ShaShinKi

GST replaces sales tax and service tax. Currently camera, lens, speedlights are TAX free in Malaysia. So be prepared to pay 6% extra for your hobby by April 2015. Most photographic accessories as 10% sales tax (during importing pay to custom), so we might see some accessories with price drop then.

Of course, you still have 18 months left to save and buy your dream camera at 6% cheaper. Or sell your equipment at 6% less loss after April 2013.

For a Nikon D4, 6% means nearly RM1k increment. For a Nikon D3200, it is around RM100 extra.
