Peugeot RCZ – booked

Got a phone call from Nasim today, Peugeot distributor in Malaysia. Nasim Plentong to be exact.

Good news? Yeah! They have a Peugeot RCZ white manual available for me! The customer that ordered that car few days ago has decided to change to Auto model, for the reason that his wife can’t drive manual (should I change to Auto too?).

So, the salesman, John, called me saying that that RCZ is available, asking me if I am still interested. Of course!

Excited, and I arrange to go there today with my wife, but that car not yet arrived. They say is on the way from KL to their place, should reach tonight or tomorrow.

The reason I went there is to show them my Myvi, as I want to trade in or rather sell my Myvi. Quoted price is RM30k to RM31k. Quite low and below my expectation. I was expecting RM35k to RM38k. We paid RM51k for it in Oct 2008, mileage is 36000km now. Still in pristine condition.

After discussing with my wife, we decided to just keep the car.

There are two RCZ there now, one white, one grey. Both are Auto. Grey is in the showroom, while white is outside parked. They said is test drive unit for customer. Maybe I shall test drive it first? No, haven’t done so.

This is the white RCZ parked outside the showroom, test drive car.

This is the grey RCZ parked inside the showroom. For people to go sit, press, touch…etc.

In Malaysia, Pearl white and Haria Grey are selling at the same price. However, in UK, there are some differences in price. Let me list them down here

  • Pearl White is 190 pound (RM950) more expensive than Haria Grey
  • Pearl white comes with Pearl black side mirror (60 pound or RM300) while Haria Grey is just standard grey mirror (same as body paint)
  • Pearl white comes with Brilliant Black front grilles (60 pound or RM300) while Haria Grey is with some chrome lining front grilles (which I think is nicer)
  • Black Calipers in Pearl White (160 pound, or RM900)
  • Pearl white comes with dark colour alloy wheel, while Haria Grey comes with bright silver colour alloy wheel. Same price.
  • Both comes with Nappa leather, just different colour. Pearl white comes with dark grey or black leather, while Haria Grey comes with light grey leather. Same price.

From the above, you can see that Pearl White is more worth it. Of course, that is if you like pearl white car than Haria Grey colour. The salesman told me that out of 10 units RCZ that they sold, 7 are white. So, Haria grey should be rarer or cooler in Malaysia… 😛

Then, there comes the difference between Auto and Manual

  • Auto is 156bhp, while Manual is 200bhp. Both using 6 speeds gear box.
  • Manual has larger Cluster Matrix Display
  • Sporty short Shift gear lever and smaller steering wheel (Interior sports kit, 320 pound or RM1600)
  • Larger front ventilated disc brake
  • Sound technology
  • Variable Valve Lift (VVL)
  • In UK, THP200 Manual is 1350 pound extra (RM6750)
  • RM5000 extra for manual in Malaysia, with many of the above for free.

I think Manual is more worth it, but don’t buy manual just for the sake of kiasu, as if you can’t drive manual, you might as well get the Auto.

Conclusion

Buying MANUAL and Pearl White, give the MOST bang of your bucks.

Thank you Dear!

My wife supported me a lot in buying the car, not because she wants the car, but merely just to support me. Thank you my dear…

We reached there quite late, around 7pm. Spent an hour+ there, discussing on finance and me checking out the grey unit in detail again the interior. Finally I took out my credit card to swipe RM2000 as deposit to reserve that white unit.

The car shall be ready next week, end of next week or early next next week. I hope I have made a right choice and decision in buying a new car.

(I have just found the number for the plate that I wish to get. JNM 320. JNM stands for Jia Nuo Megumi, while 320 is March 20, wedding anniversary. I prayed that I can get this number.)

Update: 17 March 2012

Went to see “my car” today with my friend, Alvin. Am excited to see the car…so took a few photos using my camera phone. 🙂

I couldn’t get to access the interior, as the car was locked and the key was in the manager’s hand (Mr. Wong), who wasn’t in the office today. I am fine with that and I am glad that the manager locked the car for nobody can try at will. 🙂

Did you notice a piece of paper on the dashboard inside the car? It is written “SOLD” there.

Am thinking of the plate design for the car…wondering what kind of design would be nice for it to use. Peugeot does give 2 plate cover (front and rear) for each car, but for front, I am definitely NOT going to use it. It is oversize, larger than the space provided, which I think is UGLY.

My thought is that a chrome outlined type would be nice. The salesman suggest a full black covering the back plate space, I thought OK but come to think of it…I don’t think it is going to be nice. A small plate design should be nicer. Maybe I shall go to car plate shop to choose…

🙂
