Since I have both products in hand, so instead of asking others how is the speed of both (main interest in TEKQ speed), so I did a simple read and write test to the memory card.
TEKQ Professional 233X Ultra Pro CompactFlash (CF) 8GB Memory Card (Lifetime Warranty)
Buffalo MCR-A30H/U2 30 in 1 USB 2.0 High Speed Memory Card Reader Writer
The Buffalo MCR-A30H/U2 30 in 1 USB 2.0 High Speed Memory Card Reader Writer is among the fastest USB reader/writer in the market nowadays, so this should eliminates the bottleneck of the writing or reading speed of the memory card withhold by the card reader/writer.
Test Files
- Total File = 472 Jpeg files
- Total File Size = 2.01GB or 2,164,224,000 bytes
- Computer = Fast USB port (latest PC with 3GB memory and over 250GB free hdd space
- Time measured using online stop watch, hand/human accuracy = +-2 seconds
Results
- Read time (copy files from memory card to PC) = 108 seconds (18.61MB/s)
- Write time (copy same files from PC to memory card) = 371 seconds (5.42MB/s)

Hi PrincessBB,
Thank you for visiting my blog.
if you are doing work at home, then I would recommend you getting a PC with 20 inches LCD monitor rather than a notebook, for the same price that you are paying.
A moderate notebook will cost you RM4k. For the same amount of money, you can get a very powerful PC.
For interior design, I would expect heavy use of graphic, and a large LCD monitor is definitely better than a 15inch or 14 inch notebook LCD monitor. For design work, the more you see, the easier and faster you to do the work.
Of course, if you need to do your work on the go, then a notebook is needed.
Either PC or notebook, if you are getting Windows XP, minimum RAM that you should get is 2GB. If you are getting Windows Vista, minimum RAM that I would recommend is 4GB. For graphic work, the more the memory (RAM), the better it is. For 3D work, get a good to moderate graphic card. Processor speed wise, you do not need to get the fastest, just get a moderate one Intel processor will do. HDD should be at least 160GB for notebook or 320GB for PC.
Personally I am quite happy with DELL computer. You should check out http://www.dell.com.my for their offer.
Hope this helps. 🙂
Hi KKK,
just wanted to say first up that your website is quite comprehensive now with all sorts of photography equipment. Kudos to you, and it seems you sell pretty reputable goods on your site.
However, seeing this particular TekQ memory card seems to be a odd one out. The performance of it doesn’t seem to come on par as per specs.
1 speed for memory cards is 150 KB/s right? Hence for a 233x card, the performance should be roughly 34.95 MB/s correct?
With the performance you gave, both the read and write speeds are severely under the quoted specs. Hence the read speed is half the rated speed and the write speed is 7 times SLOWER than the rated speed.
I think you’ve got a dude performing product here KKK, or perhaps your test lab is doing justice to your product?
Beanz
Hi Beanz,
Thank you for the feeback and comments.
TEKQ is a new brand in the market. Personally I have tested it myself on my Nikon D200, performance seems fine (not really the fastest, but no lagging when I use it on my D200), hence I am confident to import it and offer it to my customers.
On the product page, I have written the write and read speed as given by TEKQ at:
Read Speed 32MB/s
Write Speed 12MB/s
This is the official specifications given by TEKQ. Of course I can’t verify this data as I did not get as high speed as they have claimed, and perhaps the different test setup and equipment.
The main selling point of TEKQ is the large capacity and low price. With big buffer in most DSLR nowadays, I think if TEKQ can perform as what I got above, it is still good enough for most.
Of course, for those who are shooting sports, I would recommend going for Sandisk Extreme IV series, which I am still carrying and offering at ShaShinKi.com. TEKQ is just an alternative for those who don’t want to spend more than twice the money for the same capacity, with the compromise of lower speed.
Thanks. 🙂
I have a mico SD Tekq i a lost a pass.. What can i do is a any sugestion?
Hi Docrob,
