NANOHA x5 and its power

148_320-180.jpg

Is Nanoha x5 a macro lens or a microscope? For customers amazed by macro photography we are demonstrating the capabilities and abilities of the unique macro lens Yasuhara Nanoha x5. We have introduced the Nanoha x5 lens in March in a review prepared by makrofoto.cz photography web site. In the present a recognized macrophotographer Dušan Beňo is preparing a collection of pictures using Nanoha x5 and  Panasonic Lumix DMC-G10 camera. We will soon introduce the Nanoha x5 lens in its full strength and will try to compare this lens with its older "brother" made by Canon - MP-E 65mm 1-5x Macro.

Dušan's first impressions. Nanoha x5 is an excellent macro lens, but dealing with it is really quite difficult, since it only allows working in certain (large) magnification and nothing more nor less. The drawing of the lens is very good with "real" magnification 8-10:1 and I do not know if there is any other lens for micro 4/3 cameras with such a big magnification as the NANOHA x5 can provide. Nanoha x5 can only compete with Canon MP-E and microscopic lenses (which have better drawing, but the depth of field is so little almost none and those lenses are more expensive). Nanoha is not designed for normal photography. It is a macro lens designed for enthusiastic photographers  to take pictures with extreme details.

We are introducing  the first of the planned series of macro pictures. Just for clarification, I note that it is not a cut, but it is a realistic view from the sensor. Of course because of small DOF the picture is stacked from a number of photo shots.

For getting a better idea of drawing of the lens and of the "macro" capability see the few sample pictures bellow. More macro photos taken by NANOHA x5 and its review will be published in late March, early April 2012.
