I purchased this item wondering "How good could it be at this price, but hey, it's made in Japan"! My reservations have been confirmed that "you get what you pay for". The build quality is poor, the edge of the lens has not even been blacked out, you can see this from the inside of the lens. The most disappointing thing is that during finishing of the lens it was painted black. What has been done to protect the front of the lens during painting is some sort of circular masking applied at the lens front. The circular masking did not cover the entire lens, so now there is a small edge of paint around the front of the outer edge of the lens that is breaking off and attaching to the lens of course producing a large black spot/s. Each time the lens is brushed another small piece of paint breaks making more of a mess. Truly a very poor finish for a "macro lens attachment". Lens flare is very high and I had difficulty controlling it. Opteka has disgraced the good "Made in Japan" name. I purchased a B&W Close-up +5 Lens at the same time - this blows the Opteka out of the water for quality, stick with the high-quality gear, not this rubbish. This bit of gear has found a home at the back of my photography cabinet where I'm sure it'll stay for the day when I'm really bored and I want to make something out of it! Conversion lens review based on usage with a Nikon D750 and Nikon 200mm f/4 Micro lens.
