“junk food”?

Posted on January 16th, 2008 by KhoKing.

Megumi likes to bite things…anything that she can grab she will put into her mouth and taste it.

So, instead of just biting and tasting toys…we thought of getting some biscuits for her. Junk food?

kkk_9828.jpg

No lah…should be pretty healthy food I think. I tasted it myself, very crispy, will melt in the mouth after reacting with saliva. Taste like milk powder but not sweet. Quite nice actually but a bit sticky. :P

First…we gave her the biscuit…yeah, as expected, went into the mouth immediately!

Children Blessing Service - Megumi Church (Japan)

Posted on November 12th, 2007 by KhoKing.
Categories: Church, Family.

Today (Sunday - 11 November 2007) we have a Children Blessing Service in our church. All children of Primary 6 and below are going on stage to get blessed/prayer by the pastor. This is done after the message preaching by our Pastor with Bible verses below:

Mark 10:13-16 (King James Version)

10:13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
10:14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
10:16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

Here’s some photos of Megumi and Mum (Lydia) and Pastor Kato to share:

Mum & Baby…holding up…

Posted on October 10th, 2007 by KhoKing.
Categories: Family.

My wife was holding Megumi vertically up, turned her head to the side and pressed her to lay onto her body. Trying to train her to turn her head sideway when laying down with head face to side.

I saw the scene, very pleasant light and expression of mum and baby…took my camera and snap a few shots. :)

This is really crazy…can you imagine?!!! If you did not use to a certain amount of electricity, you will be fined. Yeah…paying money as penalty because you did not meet TNB minimum usage requirement…

This is MONOPOLY! How can the government allow that?!!!

wordpress The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.

Posted on August 28th, 2007 by KhoKing.
Categories: Computer / IT.

While trying to share two big Nikon D3 files that each contains over 6MB size just now, I have encountered a problem in Wordpress. Not really a wordpress problem but this is the message I received:

wordpress The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.

I tried several times, but still couldn’t get the files uploaded. Did a search via Google and linked to Wordpress site, with suggestion of adding the following commands to php.ini file.

upload_max_filesize = 10M
post_max_size = 10M

I tried locating my php.ini file but not avail. Manually created a php.ini file and save it to my public_html folder but still can’t do, same error at Wordpress.

So, I tried my WebHostManager (I owned a dedicated server with full access to it). Viola! I found the dummy windows style of editing the php.ini file via WHM! Here’s the screenshot of it:

max-upload-file-size.jpg

Default was 2MB maximum file size upload allow, and now I have changed it to 50MB. :)

Problem solved.

Choosing Camcorder in the market

Posted on July 14th, 2007 by KhoKing.
Categories: Photography.

I did some study recently on which digital videocam to buy as well recently, here’s what I think:

Media Type:
1. HDD type of camcorder is not practical at the moment. The highest 120GB in Sony can only record 13 hours of high def video quality. Transferring and backuping those space is going to be troublesome. Worse if HDD failed.

2. DVD type is not practical as well, as one DVD is only 15 mins of high def recording.

3. SD (secure digital) memory card? Hmm…maximum is 8GB SDHC at the moment, can record around 12~15 minutes of high definition video. Quite useless IMO…

4. I end up chose miniDV, as I find it easier to store and miniDV is cheap (RM15 or US$4 per tape).

Video Quality
There are standard type and high definition type in the market nowadays. After seeing and comparing the quality of standard type with high def type, the answer is clear. Although I do not have high def TV at the moment as well, but achieving the video on high def format is definitely the way to go for me. The video quality is totally different, like watching VCD vs DVD.

After deciding on the above, the rest is easy as there are not many high def miniDV camcorder in the market. In Sony range, there is only one model at the moment, DCR-HC7.

I read the review at cnet and some other sites in the internet. I too have actually made up my mind on choosing Sony only camcorder, as it is always known to be the best. However, if you checked some reviews in the net on miniDV high def camcorder, you will notice another popular model: Canon iVIS HV20. (There is no high def miniDV from Panasonic.)

After reading and comparing Canon HV20 with Sony HDR-HC7 in a store (actual products), here’s what I found:

1. Sony LCD is not as bright and as contrasty as the Canon LCD. Both are of same size, but Sony one is dull.

2. Sony design is nicer, very classy. Canon one felt like plastic, Sony is silver metalic.

3. Canon is using standard ISO type of hotshoe (for flash or light or mic). Sony is special Sony hotshoe design, must buy Sony only accessories.

4. Sony is using memory stick for still photo, Canon is miniSD.

5. Canon is cheaper by around RM400.

6. Canon high def format is full 1920 x 1080 picture, while Sony is 1440 x 1080.

7. Canon has a drawback on sound quality, it records the sound of motor in the camcorder. Not sure about Sony.

8. Canon has better low light recording than Sony, in COLOUR. While Sony has night shot mode, but all becomes green/grey (B&W).

9. Canon HV20 has very fast focusing speed. Point your camcorder to different distance and subject, immediately it change and refocus. Fast, definitely FASTER than Sony.

So, I end up getting the Canon iVIS HV20. :)

Got my car garage certificate from Police!

Posted on May 16th, 2007 by KhoKing.
Categories: Family.

Praise th Lord! My wife and I got our car’s garage certificate from the local police station without fuss today! :D

In Japan, if you want to own a white plate car (big car above 800cc if I am not mistaken), you need to prove that you have a garage/parking space for it before you are allowed to own the car. Yes, you can’t buy a car if you do not have a parking space, even if you have the money. You must first prove that you have a space to park your car.

Here’s what you need to do (sharing my experience now):

1. Find a parking space around you (Normally the house/room you rent should have a parking space offered, if not then you will have to rent from private parking space). Monthly rental can be from JPY2,000 to JPY15,000, depends on the location of where you are staying. For mine, I paid JPY2,000 for a urban area space.

2. Buy the needed documentations from the local police station. Cost is JPY50.

3. Bring the documentations to the parking space land lord, ask him/her to fill in the some of the needed informations. You might need to draw the map of where you live to the location of the parking space, cannot be more than 2km. You will also need to draft out the size of the parking space, making sure that your car can fit in (some Japanese parking space are very small, only for small car).

4. After filling in all the information stamp (inkan) from the landlord, you can now bring the documents to your local police station.

4.1 Oh…before I forget, you need to make sure that you have your own inkan (stamp) as well, if not then you will need to register one from the City Office. You must make sure that the inkan is having the name/alphabet same as your registered name as in your Alien card (yes, Japanese calls all foreigners “aliens”). I have bought a Kanji (Chinese character) inkan and got rejected. Have to make a inkan with “コー” sounds as “KO”. Inkan registration is easy, only takes 10 minutes.

4.2 Now assuming you have all the documents filled up, your inkan, JPY2000, now you can go to the police station and register your parking space.

5. You can’t get your parking certificate on the same day. You will need to go back to the Police Station on the 3rd day after you submitted your documents. Eg. submit on Monday, go collect on Wednesday. Prepare another JPY500 when collecting your certificate.

* There is no minimum period of rental for the parking space. You can rent it for a month, or two, or 3 or a year…as long as you can get the landlord fill up the form for you, then you are fine. Police will not require you to rent the same parking space for long. However, some landlord will require you to rent for a minimum period of time.

That should be it, not very difficult and you can actually do it yourself fairly easy. :) My next mission…get the car name changes to mine!
