Posted by KhoKing on Sunday Mar 9, 2008 Under MalaysiaNow that Selangor has fall into the Oppositions hands…will the tolls in Selangor continue to increase or will it get reduced or demolished?
There are so many tolls in Selangor…
Or will we get another excuse? What do you think?

Toll collection are all bind with legal term & contract which were signed and approved by BN.

So…this is the excuse? What about the promises given by Oppositions when they demonstrated and shout about toll increase? They said they will demolish many tolls…so now cannot already? Back to the “real world”?

Opposition is no longer the right word… BN is now the opposition in Selangor.
I can’t recall the non-BN leaders promising a reduction of toll rates or toll abolishments… although they had been highly critical of it.
As dorjee said, it’s legal binding… unless the new state government is willing to pay a hefty compensation, the tolls are likely to stay.
It’s actually the start of their new challenge… the new state government(s) will have to show what they can really do something, and not just talking.

I think that is federal government’s say. But it still is a very beautiful morning. I am elated!

depends on whether the state government can prove the toll contract breach the constitution or maybe the state just straight buy the toll…
As dorjee said, it’s legal binding…
we have a new state government… not a new gangster to demolish the toll as they wish…

Toll road concessions are awarded by the Federal Government. So no, tolls cannot be re-negotiated by the Selangor PKR/DAP/AS govt because the state Govt wasn’t a party to the agreement
