I just designed and setup a new “test store” at:
http://www.ecmalaysia.com/shops/fashion/index.php
Installation is just an ease within 10 minutes, but customizing take some times. I have to change the colours to red/pink style to match the lady feeling.
Also did some changes:
1. Added Currency Selector at the top, removed Language Selector as only English language is being used.
2. Added Search box at the lower left column.
Should I rent out the shop?

Received a call from Tamron Japan today.
I sent in a Tamron SP 17-50mm F2.8 lens (Canon mount) for repair two days ago, and they have received it and calling me to reconfirm the problem and inform me of an estimate repair duration. Due to the coming long holiday (first week of May) in Japan, it will take 2~3 weeks for me to get the lens back. The problem of the lens is ERR99 with Canon 350D DSLR.
I took the chance to ask them about the Made in Japan and Assembled in China variants of the lens. He checked with his manager and told me that Tamron Japan have moved the production of the SP 17-50mm lens back to Japan in March 2007. So, there might still be some assembled in China version floating in the market, but if you are getting the Made in Japan version now, then yours should be the latest batch.
Great customer service from Tamron Japan I would say, thumbs up!

Earth quake today at the place where I stay, Higashi-Hiroshima. I live at 9th floor, a 10th floor building, so I can feel the earth quake quite clearly. My wife felt it a few seconds before me, and the shaking last for around 10 seconds (I think). After checking Yahoo weather, my place is experiencing 3rd degree of earth quake. Not as strong as I felt before, as last time there were things falling in my kitchen.
Below is some summary from Yahoo, where you can get full report at:

The default wordpress theme is quite boring (or very boring?) and I hate especially the small width column design! Went to Wordpress site and browse some of their popular themes there (FREE), and finally decided on the current one that you are seeing now (or might change again in future?).
Changed the banner to my own photo, and change the profile photo to my own photo. Will spend some time in future to make things better.
I am totally new to “blog”…hahaa…

Due to the popular demand worldwide, Dell has announced the re-introduction of Windows XP in their computer system. Effective immediately, customers can now order new Dell computer from Dell website with the option of choosing Windows XP as the operating system. According to Dell, customers can choose to have either Window XP Home or Windows XP Pro pre-installed on four Inspiron notebook systems (the 1405, 1501, 1505, and 1705 models) and Dell’s Dimension E520 and E521 desktop computers.
This might be due to the recently lots of compatibility issue of Windows Vista with some hardwares and softwares. However, Dell will not offer Windows XP forever, as Microsoft has announced at their website the end of life date of Windows XP as of 31st January 2008.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecycle/default.mspx
Support for Windows XP will be available till 31st January 2009, a year after Windows XP stop selling from retails.

Went to a Toyota used car shop today. Saw two WISH there, one is year 2006 model and the other is year 2003 model. The year 2006 model is going for 1.595 millions yens, while the 2003 model is around 1.45 millions yens. The 2006 model seems like a better option…but after adding in everything, the total amount for owning that car in Japan will be upto 1.785 millions yens, which is very much out of my initial budget of ¥1 mil.
The year 2006 model is quite nice, only 3000km mileage, and internal is pretty clean and new as well. Car is silver in colour and interior is black. However, there is no CD or Music player inside the car. According to the salesman, the original owner removed the navigator system (which is TV, Navi, CD, MD…etc. all in one player) while selling the car. A brand new Toyota navi system will cost ¥150,000 (yes we asked the salesman on the price).
A brand new Toyota WISH is less than ¥2mil, and this USED car doesn’t really seems like a good deal to me.
My wife isn’t very happy with the price as well, and we also found the car to be actually QUITE SMALL interior, especially for the back seaters. I think we are changing our mind and target back to Honda Oddysey now, if I were to budget ¥1.7mil, maybe I can get the later model of Oddysey.
By the way…did I mention that my father actually has the latest Oddysey at home? ![]()

Just read about the news of Ubuntu going 7.04 on 19th April 2007.
What is Ubuntu? I have read and heard about this Linux distributor, but I have not actually use it. Yes, Linux the FREE Operating System that is targeting at people that do not want to rely on Microsoft or Apple for the paid OS.
Ubuntu is fairly new in Linux distribution, but they are now one of the most successful or famous Linux distributor in the world. They are free and promised to be FREE at ALL TIME.
Here’s what Ubuntu wrote in their website:
With high speed internet connection at most places now, you don’t really need to order the CD but can download and try out the Ubuntu at:
Happy Linuxing! ![]()

Hope to bring a car back to Malaysia after I graduate in Japan end of 2008. Have been searching for a good car since few weeks ago…first thought of getting Honda Oddysey, but found the model to be the old type (year 2003/2004 model), and costs around 1.2~1.5 million yens. After adding shaken and changing name fee, it might need extra 300,000 yens. Hmm…total 1.8 mils, not what I want to pay.
Now my target switched to Toyota WISH. Quite a nice car, though initially I do not like it. Toyota is a very good brand in Japan (worldwide too), and many Japanese like Toyota car. Hence, price of used Toyota isn’t exactly cheap in Japan. I searched online, and found the price of what I plan to get is around 1.3 millions yens. Adding processing fee, maybe around 1.4 millions. Hope to be able to get one that has valid shaken till end of 2008, then I do not need to pay extra money for 2 years shaken, which I will not be using 2 years and wasted money.
I will try search around for a good condition Toyota Wish. If God permits, I am sure He will prepare a most suitable one for me. ![]()

Nokia has always cater and not forgetting the HIGH END market of handphone users. I am sure there are many millions and billionaires out there that would want to have a handphone that is NOT affordable by the general public.
Handphone has been an everyday life NECESSARY for most. Even Apple has realized this and put their hands into the BIG CAKE market. Steve Jobs said he just need 1% of the mobile phone market, which is equivalent to 10 millions units.
Back to the Nokia Gold news…
Nokia has unveiled the Nokia 8800 Sirocco Gold - a bold and prestigious new style statement. Encased in luxurious 18-carat gold plating, the precisely crafted Nokia 8800 Sirocco Gold combines timeless design with contemporary flair, resulting in an exclusive display of personal style and elegance. A sirocco is a strong wind, originating in the sun-bathed Sahara desert and travelling all the way to the Mediterrean. This blending of the strength and sensual beauty of nature is the inspiration for the extire Nokia 8800 Sirocco line.
Combining its heritage of highly desired communication devices with stunning organic designs derived from surfaces found in nature, the Nokia 8800 Sirocco Gold pays artful attention to the smallest details and selection of materials. A stunning achievement of craftsmanship, fine white gold accents enhance the 18-carat gold plating while the sapphire-coated, scratch-resistant glass display helps to ensure that the beauty of the Nokia 8800 Sirocco Gold endures.

Just read about the news on Intel new processor which will be coming out end of this year that is going to be 40% faster than the current processor.
Intel Corp. said a new line of computer processors due out later this year will be about 40 percent faster than current chips when running computer games, videos and other heavy workloads. The world’s biggest microchip maker, which powers about 75 percent of computers, said the new Penryn processors will have the same basic design as current ones, but the circuitry will be 30 percent thinner — just 45 millionths of a millimeter wide.
“In high-performance computing and bandwidth intensive applications … there will be up to a whopping 45 percent performance increase,” said Patrick Gelsinger, the general manager for Intel’s digital enterprise group. The Penryn would be the world’s first 45 nanometer processor, Gelsinger said at the Intel Developer Forum in Beijing on Tuesday. The new processors will hit the market later this year, but Gelsinger did not provide a timeline.
In a prototype Penryn chip with four processing cores, that translated into 40 percent faster performance in computer games and video processing, while more mundane tasks such as image processing ran about 15 percent faster, Gelsinger said.

Somebody emailed me and asked about the Hakuba KMC-04, so I thought I would share my opinion here as well as reference for others.
Hakuba Ultra Strong Anti-Fungus Packs for Camera Lens
The Hakuba KMC-04 is a moisture absorber, keeping the moisture in your camera bag low, hence preventing or reducing the risk of fungus growing in your camera bag.
However, do note that it is NOT advisable to keep your camera and lenses in your camera bag while not using them for an extended period. Reason is because most camera bags are made from fabric and sponge, which are a moisture absorber in nature and keep the bag damp and wet most of the time. Although the Hakuba can reduce the humidity inside the camera bag, but it is not a 100% fool proof product to prevent fungus, as it still mainly depends on the environment of where you store your bag.
I would still recommend you getting a drybox to store your D70s and lenses at home:
http://shashinki.com/shop/dry
The Hakuba is good and useful when you are traveling with your camera bag.

After PhotoMalaysia…now PentaxWorld.
Did some clean up on the forum of PentaxWorld. Finally uploaded all icon images to make the forum looks neater. Google still has not rank PentaxWorld, upon checking site:pentaxworld.com today, it only shows 7 indexed pages. I have recently (a week ago) change my forum from guests not allowed to browse to OPEN Forum. Hope google will start indexing the forum’s topics and discussions soon.
I am quite impatient…hope PentaxWorld can grow faster and becoming the Largest and Most Popular Pentax photography forum in the world!

After stopping the attack, PhotoMalaysia is back to fast and smooth now. It seems that our current server is able to support the load that we are having now (if no attack), upgrading or getting a 2nd server is not in rush now…praise the Lord!
Brian is upgrading the forum software of PhotoMalaysia this week, hopefully more features and correction and smoothness will be in PhotoMalaysia soon.

Brian has just informed me an hour ago that the SLOWness of PhotoMalaysia is due to SSH attack, some people were sending multiple access request via SSH to PhotoMalaysia server, making our server busy and slow in responding to the normal request in the site from members.
We have no prove of who is attacking us, but we wonder who want to attack PhotoMalaysia?!
We will be stronger and stronger each day…will not give up to those that envy us and wanna bring us down.
Below is what Brian posted (attack/requests in less than one second):
